Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to charter a superyacht in the Mediterranean?

In our current Mediterranean fleet, weekly rates run from about €48,000 for a 29m Princess to €800,000 for the 80m Elements, before expenses. On top of the charter fee you pay an advance provisioning allowance (APA) for fuel, food, drinks and berthing, usually 30 to 40% of the fee, plus VAT where it applies.

What is the APA on a yacht charter?

The advance provisioning allowance is paid before the charter and covers running costs such as fuel, food, drinks, marina fees and communications. The captain keeps a full account, and any unused balance is returned to you at the end of the charter.

When is the Mediterranean charter season?

The main season runs from May to October. July and August are the busiest and most expensive weeks, so the best 40 to 90 metre yachts are often booked months ahead. June and September offer warm water, quieter anchorages and more choice.

How many guests can a superyacht take on charter?

Most charter yachts from 24 to 90 metres sleep up to 12 guests overnight, the usual limit for commercial yachts under international rules. Some can host more guests for day cruising or events.

How does booking a yacht charter work?

We send a shortlist matched to your dates, group and budget, hold your preferred yacht, then you sign a MYBA charter agreement. A deposit, usually 50%, secures the booking, and the balance and APA are normally paid about a month before the charter.

Does it cost more to book through a broker?

No. In the standard MYBA system the broker’s commission is paid by the yacht owner out of the charter fee, so you pay the same rate as booking directly, with independent advice on which yacht fits you best.

Can the crew cater for Gulf families and halal requirements?

Yes. Halal provisioning, privacy for family groups, prayer times and Arabic-speaking or female crew members can be requested in the preference sheet. Tell us your needs and we shortlist yachts whose crews can meet them.
